This is a cool and very rare 201! This bassoon was modified with the Weisberg System. This allows the player to play without flicking or venting but gives you the clear articulation and raised pitch as if you had in that problematic register. It’s a complicated system but a very sophisticated one. I think this is a great option for the right person but not everyone.
I think another option with this bassoon would be to remove the additional key work and convert the bassoon back to a normal 201. These 201s from this vintage are quite good! It was made in 1996. This instrument also has a French Whisper Key which I think is very nice to have.
